Finding Purpose After Loss

Hey friend, grab something warm to sip, and let’s chat.

Loss has a way of shaking you to your core. It doesn’t just change your circumstances it changes you. When you’ve lost someone you love, or a dream you were holding onto, it can feel like everything stops. The world keeps turning, but your heart feels frozen in place. I’ve been there more than once.

In the middle of that stillness, I’ve found myself asking, “What now, Lord? What do I do with this pain?” And over time, He’s shown me something I didn’t expect: there is purpose in the pain.

It doesn’t mean the loss was good. It means that God, in His goodness, can bring something beautiful out of what was broken. The Bible reminds us, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28, NIV). Notice it says in all things, not just the easy ones. That includes the heartbreak, the confusion, the questions, and the silence. When I look back over this past year the loss of my mom, my pregnancy, my sister I can see how each moment drew me closer to God, even when I didn’t understand it. I’ve learned that grief doesn’t cancel out purpose; it often reveals it. Sometimes the purpose is found in how we comfort others who are grieving. Sometimes it’s in how we grow stronger, gentler, or more compassionate. And sometimes it’s simply in how we keep showing up trusting God one day at a time, even when our hearts still ache.

Friend, if you’re walking through loss, I want you to know this: your story isn’t over. God can use even this. What feels like the end might just be the beginning of something new something that carries meaning you can’t yet see. The Bible tells us, “He will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair” (Isaiah 61:3, NIV). That’s not a metaphor it’s a promise.

Lean into that. Let Him rebuild what was broken. There’s still purpose in you, and there’s still life ahead.

“The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your love, O Lord, endures forever.” Psalm 138:8 (NIV)

With love and gratitude, always

Kevi
