What Grief Has Taught Me About God

Hey friend, I’m so glad you’re here. Pull up a chair, grab something warm to sip, and let’s chat.

Grief is something you can’t really prepare for. You might think you understand it, but when it comes, it changes everything. It changes how you see life, how you see people, and most of all, how you see God.

Over the last year, I’ve experienced loss after loss—my mother, my pregnancy, and now my sister. Each loss has felt different, but the ache of grief has been the same. It’s the kind of pain that sits quietly with you in the morning and follows you through the day. And yet, even in this place, I’ve learned something about God that I didn’t know before. I’ve learned that He doesn’t rush my healing. He doesn’t expect me to have it all together. He simply sits with me in the pain. Psalm 34:18 reminds me, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (NIV). In my lowest moments, I’ve felt His presence more clearly than ever not in grand gestures, but in the small, steady reminders that He’s still near. Grief has also taught me that faith doesn’t erase pain it carries me through it. There have been days when all I could do was whisper, “Lord, help me,” and somehow that was enough. I’ve come to understand that His strength shows up best in my weakness. And even when I don’t understand why things happen the way they do, I hold on to this: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28, NIV). It doesn’t mean everything feels good, but it means everything can be used for good. Friend, if you’re grieving right now, please know this you’re not alone, and you’re not forgotten. God sees every tear. He hears every unspoken prayer. And He is working, even in the silence, to bring beauty from ashes.

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3 (NIV)

With love and gratitude, always

Kevi
