Raising Kids: Planting Seeds of Faith

Hey friend, grab something warm to sip, and let’s chat.
Raising kids is one of the greatest blessings and also one of the biggest responsibilities God has given me. Some days it feels like pure joy watching them laugh, grow, and discover the world. Other days it feels exhausting, like I’m stretched so thin I don’t have much left to give. As children get older, the urge and desire to become their own person grows stronger. They start to test boundaries, ask more questions, and make choices that sometimes go against what we hoped for them. This is why foundation matters. The prayers whispered over them at night, the way we guide them through mistakes, and the example we set with our own words and actions all become part of the groundwork that shapes their lives.
The Bible reminds us, “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6 (NIV) That verse keeps me steady. It reminds me that my role isn’t to control every step but to plant seeds of faith and truth that will carry them as they grow. While it’s easy to become upset during the growth process, I’ve learned that parenting works best when I mirror the way God parents us—with compassion, love, and grace. He corrects us, but He also forgives us. He guides us, but He also gives us freedom to learn. That’s the balance I want to bring into my home.
Raising kids is messy, beautiful, and humbling but it is holy work. Every laugh, every tear, every challenge is an opportunity to point them back to the Lord. My prayer is that when they are grown and walking in their own paths, the foundation of faith we laid together will remain strong.
“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6 (NIV)
With love and gratitude, always
Kevi
